What is a Desktop Application? back
A Desktop Application is an application that runs on your office computers under Windows. It cannot be seen by others outside your domain. It contains your internal information. This is different from a Web Application, which runs via access to the World Wide Web and is universally seen.
A Desktop Application is more powerful than a Web Application in some respects. True, not as many people are able to access it, but for those that do, the capabilities are unlimited.
Who is a Desktop Application for?
Any business where there is no "Off the Shelf" solution or where you've outgrown spreadksheets. With custom software you have complete control over how your screens and reports look. Anyone in your office can access the information (simultaneously) without having to be a computer whiz.
For Example:
Date fields provide "Pick and Choose" calendars.
Drop-down lists show information relating only to your clientele.
